A Whirlwind Weekend...

I think we spent last weekend in our nation's capital with Ryan and Jessica. :) Our flight out there was CRAZ-EE, nuts, ridiculous (and caused us to lose a day of our vacation-boo)! We had the "red-eye," but in our case, this included THREE flights. The layover/ flight in L.A. had a delay, which caused us to miss our flight from Chicago, which was experiencing power outages at the airport due to weather, which caused a six-hour delay and multiple flight cancellations, which meant 11 gate changes and tickets on three flights, which, in turn, all just made us bonkers! We finally got a flight into Baltimore, rushed to the Amtrak, caught the train to D.C., and made it to the restaurant before the end of happy hour! We were running on about three hours of sleep and so you can imagine Thursday night- exhausted. Friday, we all slept in until about noon (Hey- that's only 9:00 for us!). Andy was in no mood for sight-seeing, so he waited until 5pm for the "lost luggage." I took the Metro and spent almost three hours at the National Gallery of Art. It was sooo hot (I do NOT miss HUMIDITY!) outside, but I had a wonderful time inside. Friday night, we went to a bar that had OVER 1,000 different beers! Saturday, we went to see Jessica's museum. She works at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, which just re-opened July 1st. ( http://americanart.si.edu/index3.cfm) It was a great visit! We all enjoyed seeing the different pieces, while getting the "inside scoop" from Jessica. Then, we walked over to The White House, The WWII Memorial, and The Lincoln Monument. It was a good day and we can say that we did the "touristy stuff." Saturday night, we finished off our Euchre tournament... with Ryan and Amy coming out victorious FIVE games to ONE! After we watched the sunrise (huh?!), we went to bed around 6:30am, so we could get up to leave to come home at 10am (I suppose that "night" was really just a nap!). We made it home safely and now you know why this trip was a "whirlwind!" I am going to download some pictures from the weekend...

A Fun Weekend in The South Bay AND The City!

On Friday night, we were spectators at our first-ever San Jose Giants game (Thanks to Bill for the invite!). The game was fun because Minor League baseball games have a lot of silly activities between innings and the crowd gets a little more excited about the game, since the stadium is smaller. (I even won the chance to go down to the field for a Jumbo-tron version of "Shell Game," in which I won... a hotdog- eww! :) Then, we went to The Brit (http://www.britanniaarms.com/) downtown with Laura. Andy and Bill held "Contest Night," which included 27 holes of Golden Tee, Foosball/ Babyfoot, and video trivia. Last night, we brought out our "A games" (direct Tejada quote) and headed up to the city for an evening in North Beach. Erica was kind for being the driver; Alex and Nicole were wonderful guides for our bar-hopping; and Kelly (Carson's little sister) and Jen joined us to share "Master Blasters"! We all had a great evening! Putting these pictures on the blog is the most productive thing I've done all day!

A Movie Premiere

Two weekends ago, we won passes to the "You, Me, and Dupree" premiere, which took place last night (by buying the "beer of the night" and getting a picture taken with the bottle ?!). (The movie, http://www.youmeanddupree.com/, comes out this Friday.) We waited outside the theatre for almost an hour, to make sure we got seats, but the wait was worth it! The movie was really funny and the soundtrack was good, too. We also had the chance to see a preview for "Miami Vice," which I hadn't yet seen on the big screen- wow!
In case you haven't already guessed this, we love going to the movies! We go for the movies- and for the junk food! Last week, we saw "Superman Returns," which was enjoyable. We also went to see "The Devil Wears Prada" with Grandma Jeanne last weekend. It was a fun movie with great acting by Meryl Streep as the villainous Miranda; but we especially enjoyed seeing two actors from other shows we love- Daniel Sunjata from "Rescue Me" and Adrian Grenier from "entourage."

Keeping busy

Since school ended in June, we have been travelling a little and having fun!
We went to visit Mike and Theresa and Kenneth in San Diego and then met Whit and Kirk in Vegas for some family-gambling-oops-I-mean-bonding time. :)
Grandma Jeanne came this weekend and we toured a chocolate factory (
http://www.scharffenberger.com) in Berkeley and ate a great dinner in Half Moon Bay (http://www.mossbeachdistillery.com).
Next week we head off to visit Ryan and Jessica in DC and after that, we'll make our way to Denver for Sarah and Aaron's wedding (
http://becoming.therodz.net/). School will be starting again before I know it- agh!

Who rules this roost??

These two are really the masters of our house... and in looking at their faces, why shouldn't they be?! Awww!
